For bracing and compression, book an assessment with either a physiotherapist or chiropractor at East York or Scarborough. For custom orthotics, book with a chiropractor specifically (orthotics are ordered and dispensed by chiro only, though any practitioner can flag the need at an earlier visit). Measurements, casting, or scans happen in the same session.

All three are covered by most extended health plans in Canada. Coverage varies by plan and by product. Compression garments and custom orthotics typically require a physician script dated within the past year. You'll pay in full at PRT and take home a paid receipt to submit to your insurer for reimbursement (see the payment question below).

A deposit is required the day you order, and the balance is due when the product is delivered. Products at PRT are pay-in-full, not direct billed. We provide a paid receipt so you can submit it to your extended health plan for reimbursement.

For the assessment itself, no. To get compression or custom orthotics reimbursed by insurance, most plans do require a current physician script. Ask your family doctor, or ask us and we'll help you route it.

Most plans reset January 1. Some employer plans run on a policy year that ends mid-year. Check your booklet or ask your HR contact. If you have unused orthotic, brace, or compression coverage this plan year, use it before it resets. Most plans do not roll over unused amounts.

Custom orthotics at PRT sit in the standard Toronto clinical range. Most extended health plans reimburse between $150 and $500 per year toward orthotics, and many patients pay little or nothing out of pocket once insurance is applied. Bring it in. Sometimes the fit is off, sometimes the wrong product was prescribed, and sometimes it just needs to be paired with the right loading plan. Your practitioner will assess and tell you honestly.
