Booking
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online at prtherapy.janeapp.com. Select your location, service, and preferred practitioner. Alternatively, call East York at (416) 288-0875 or Scarborough at (416) 439-1001 during clinic hours.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations inside 24 hours and no-shows reserve us the right to charge a cancellation fee. If you need to cancel within 24 hours because you're sick, call us directly and we'll do our best to work with you.
Can I choose my practitioner?
Yes. When booking online you can select your preferred practitioner. If you're unsure who to book with, our admin team is happy to help match you with the right person based on your condition and goals.
How long are appointments?
Initial assessments for physiotherapy and chiropractic are 45 minutes. Follow-up visits are generally 30 minutes but can be shorter or longer depending on what's going on. RMT appointments come in 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90-minute options. Recovery Room sessions (NormaTec, red light) are typically 30 minutes. All sessions are 1-on-1 with your practitioner.
Insurance & Billing
Do you direct bill insurance?
Yes, we direct bill most major Canadian insurers (Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield, Desjardins, and others) for physiotherapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy. Direct billing is a courtesy we offer, not a guarantee that your insurer will accept the claim. Claims sometimes come back blocked or put on hold depending on your plan's rules. Contact us before your first visit to confirm your specific coverage, and keep in mind you're responsible for any portion your plan doesn't cover.
Do you accept MVA (motor vehicle accident) patients?
Yes. We accept MVA patients under Ontario's Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS). You do not need to pay upfront. We bill your insurer directly. Bring your claim number and insurance details to your first appointment.
Do you accept WSIB?
Not at the moment. We're not currently accepting new WSIB patients. If your situation changes or our policy updates, we'll post it here and on the booking page.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit, and cash. If your insurance doesn't cover the full amount, you pay the remaining balance at the time of your appointment.
Your First Visit
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your health insurance card and benefit plan information, any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRI reports), a referral letter if applicable, and comfortable clothing appropriate for movement assessment. If you're an MVA patient, bring your claim number.
What happens at an initial assessment?
Your practitioner will take a detailed history of your injury, conduct a physical examination including movement testing, and explain their findings and diagnosis. You'll discuss your goals and leave with a clear treatment plan. Most patients receive some treatment at their initial assessment as well.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies significantly depending on the condition, how long it's been present, and your goals. Your practitioner will give you a realistic estimate at your initial assessment. We don't keep patients longer than necessary. Our goal is to get you better and keep you that way.
Recovery Room
Do I need to be a PRT patient to use the Recovery Room?

Single session drop-in: $15 per session. No commitment, pay as you go.

Ask the front desk at either location to sign up for the Recovery Club membership.

Services
What's the difference between chiropractic and physiotherapy at PRT?
Both disciplines at PRT use manual therapy and progressive exercise programming, so the approach is similar. The primary difference is the practitioner's training and regulatory scope. Dr. Silva (chiropractor) has a particular focus on spinal and extremity adjustments, sports injuries, and dry needling. Jerikka (physiotherapist) has a strong background in post-surgical rehab and complex multi-joint conditions. Many patients see both.
Do you treat children?
Yes. We treat paediatric patients for sports injuries, Sever's disease, Osgood-Schlatter's, and general musculoskeletal conditions. Note: shockwave therapy is not used for paediatric patients with open growth plates. Please mention your child's age when booking so we can prepare appropriately.
Can you treat me if I'm currently training for a race?
Absolutely. That's a significant part of what we do. We work with runners at all levels and our treatment plans are designed around keeping you training as much as safely possible while managing the injury. We don't automatically tell athletes to stop. We modify, manage, and progress.
